Our school used to work in the Bexley Wetland. We were sad to see it go with the earthquakes.

St James School

St James School is a state integrated, Catholic primary school for children aged 5 to 11 years of age. Our attractive school is situated in the suburb of Aranui within the city of Christchurch, New Zealand.

We are a multi-cultural school incorporating Samoan, Maori, Filipino and NZ European ethnic groups. Visitors to our school receive an official welcome that incorporates aspects of all our cultures.

We have a maximum roll of 117 children and our dedicated Principal, teachers, support staff and Board of Trustees ensure that the education provided at our school is of the highest quality. Our school was opened in 1965 on the site of the original Aranui Speedway track.

Technologies (ICT) are integral tools in the teaching and learning process at St James School. All teachers are provided with a laptop computer each for planning, reporting and assessment requirements, as well as being a teaching and learning aid.

St James School has several pods of laptops as well as iPads throughout the school. All computers are linked internally and to the internet via a wireless network. Children are immersed in technology at all levels of the school and utilise technology as a normal part of their daily learning experiences.

Thank you to everyone for making the Official opening of the new buildings celebrations so memorable. A fantastic day of celebrating with family. A huge thanks to everyone who was part of our special day. Thanks to students, teachers, board members and parents for such great organisation. Thank you to Father Bryan and Father John Adams for the beautiful Mass service. May God bless St James School and all who are part of the St James family.
