St James School is not a part of the Aranui Cluster proposed merger.

St James School is a state integrated, Catholic primary school for children aged 5 to 11 years of age. Our attractive school is situated in the suburb of Aranui within the city of Christchurch, New Zealand.

We are a multi-cultural school incorporating Samoan, Maori and NZ European ethnic groups. Visitors to our school receive an official welcome that incorporates aspects of all our cultures.

We have a maximum roll of 117 children and our dedicated Principal, teachers, support staff and Board of Trustees ensure that the education provided at our school is of the highest quality. Our school was opened in 1965 on the site of the original Aranui Speedway track.

Technologies (ICT) are integral tools in the teaching and learning process at St James School. All teachers are provided with an iBook laptop computer each for planning, reporting and assessment requirements, as well as being a teaching and learning aid.

St James School has several pods of iBook laptops as well as iMac computers throughout the school. All computers are linked internally and to the internet via a wireless network. Children are immersed in technology at all levels of the school and utilise technology as a normal part of their daily learning experiences.

Term One, 2013

We started the year with a Family fun night and a trip to Halswell pool. Both were a lot of fun and very well supported by our families. Great for the children to be able to introduce their parents to their teacher and school friends. The Pedal Mania bikes are such fun for all ages, A few Mums gave them a go much to the delight of their children.
